The Wolseley was a prototype created in 1896 in the UK by the Wolseley Sheep Shearing Machine Company. It was designed and developed by the general manager, Herbert Austin (pictured left in picture) who based the vehicle on a Leon Bollee. The rights to the Bollee design however were already sold to another company and so Austin went on to build his own design a year later. His second 3-wheeler, “The Wolseley Autocar No 1” was a 2-seater with back to back seating. Both models were to remain prototypes as in 1899 the company went on to produce its first production car which was a 4-wheeler.
